The rooms
Every room has good linen, real books and a window worth sitting beside. None has a television.
Overlooking the kitchen garden, with deep window seats and morning light. Two of the six welcome dogs up to 25 kilograms.
Facing the water with deep soaking tubs and windows that open to the sound of it. The rooms people rebook before checkout.
Under the eaves with freestanding baths, record players and a stack of vinyl curated by the village bookshop. Fit a rollaway beautifully.
The long table
One table, everyone welcome, wood oven bread and eggs from the farm up the road. Supper is a single seating Thursday to Sunday: five courses, $85, guests first.
Non-residents are welcome when seats remain. Ask the concierge and we will do our best.

Sketch the shape of the visit. Midweek stays of two nights or more take 15 percent off, all year.
The days
Canoes in summer, skates in winter, and a path that starts at the garden gate. Towels and thermoses are by the door.
Five minutes on foot: the bakery, the bookshop, and the Saturday market that supplies half our kitchen.
The cedar sauna by the garden is lit every day at four. Cold plunge optional, smugness guaranteed.
